Abstract
Syntheses of twelve C-SH and eight B-SH carborane thiols of the formula HS,X-C2B10H10 (X = H, Hlg, CH3) and some of their properties ( pKa, RF, 1H-, 11B-NMR) are described. All compounds are crystalline. For C-SH compounds a new convenient route was elaborated. B-SH compounds were prepared directly from substituted carborane, sulfur and AlCl3.
