Oxidation of (1-hydroxyethyl)ferrocene with bis(triphenylsilyl) chromate

Abstract
Stoichiometry and kinetics have been studied of the oxidation of (1-hydroxyethyl)ferrocene with bis(triphenylsilyl) chromate in benzene solutions at 20-45°C. The two compounds react at a molar ratio 1 : 1 to give acetylferrocene, a compound of Cr(IV) and mixture of triphenylsilanol with hexaphenyldisiloxane. A reaction mechanism is suggested and discussed.
