Abstract
4-Deoxy-4-fluoro-D-fructose (II) was prepared by specific hydrogenation of 3-deoxy-3-fluoro-D-mannitol (I), using the enzymatic system of Gluconobacter oxydans. Using 1H, 13C and 19F NMR spectra its structure and its existence in the pyranose conformation 2C5(D) in aqueous solution was demonstrated.
