Synthesis of some allylic acetoxy derivatives in the steroid series

Abstract
A synthesis is reported of 1,2- and 5,6-unsaturated cholestane derivatives bearing an acetoxy group in allylic position (i.e. 3 and 7) and containing further functional groups. A simple strategy for synthesis of 3α-substituted 5-cholestenes is devised.
