Abstract
Boron (11B) and hydrogen (1H) NMR parameters have been measured for the unique polyhedral azaborane species [(NH2Et)B8H11NHEt)] using single- and double-resonance experiments and two-dimensional shift-correlation methods. Comparison with the NMR properties of other eight-boron species, in particular arachno-[B8H12(PMe2Ph)], suggests that cluster of [(NH2Et)B8H11NHEt] may be better regarded as being of hypho character, rather than of arachno character as previously supposed.
