Oxidation of Furost-20(22)-enes with 3-Chloroperoxybenzoic Acid and Osmium Tetroxide

Abstract
6β-Methoxy-3α,5-cyclo-5α-furost-20(22)-ene and its 17α-hydroxy derivative were oxidized with 3-chloroperoxybenzoic acid and OsO4. The former compound afforded hydroxylated products, whereas the latter underwent degradation to C21 or C19 steroids.
